Where Material Becomes Form

From heat and craft to detail and character.

Material

Every object begins with material

Each material gives the object its character.

Brass, steel and wood each bring a different quality to the final form.
The warmth of brass, the clarity of steel and the texture of wood shape the surface, detail and presence of the object.

the

Form

As material begins to take shape, proportion, curve and surface start to define the object. What was once a simple piece of metal gradually gains volume and character, moving closer to the form it will eventually become.

GLOW
BETWEEN FORM AND CRAFT

Heat prepares the material for what comes next. The basic form is already present, but the object is still far from complete. From here, the material moves into a more precise stage, where shaping, surface, balance and detail gradually define the final character of the piece.

CRAFT

SHAPED BY HAND

Once the form is established, the surface begins to take on character. Through careful handwork, controlled hammering and precise adjustments, texture and detail are gradually introduced into the piece.

After shaping, hammering and polishing, the surface begins to reveal its final character. Texture becomes more controlled, reflections become cleaner, and the different materials start to read as one complete object.

The Final Reveal

A long story
MADE OVER TIME

What we make today is shaped by everything that came before it. Materials, forms, techniques and details evolve over time, refined through experience, repetition and attention. Each object carries something from that journey, becoming part of a longer story of making, improving and learning.
